Alternative PHP Cache, or APC, is a module for Apache servers that is employed to cache the output code of script applications. It is very efficient for scripts with large source code and could accelerate such a website up to three times. PHP websites are dynamic and any time a website visitor accesses a web page, the script hooks up to a database in order to retrieve some content, after that the code is parsed and compiled before it's shown to the site visitor. In case the output code doesn't change however, that is the case with websites that show the exact same content all the time, such actions result in excessive reading and writing. What APC does is that it caches the previously compiled program code and delivers it every time visitors browse an Internet site, so the database doesn't need to be accessed and the code does not need to be parsed and compiled over and over again, that in turn lowers the website loading time. The module can be extremely efficient for informational sites, blogs, portfolios, etc.

APC (PHP Opcode Cache) in Cloud Hosting

You can use APC with each and every cloud hosting package that we provide as it's already installed on our advanced cloud platform and enabling it will take you just a couple of clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. As our system is quite flexible, you'll be able to run sites with various system requirements and decide if they will use APC or not. For instance, you can allow APC only for a single version of PHP or you could do this for several of the releases that run on our platform. You can also select if all sites working with a given PHP version will use APC or whether the latter will be active only for selected websites and not for all sites in the web hosting account. The aforementioned option is useful if you wish to employ a different web accelerator for several of your sites. These customizations are carried out with ease by using a php.ini file in selected domain or subdomain folders.

APC (PHP Opcode Cache) in Semi-dedicated Servers

You will be able to use APC for every single script application that runs on your new semi-dedicated server as the module is already installed on the cloud hosting platform where the account will be generated. Activating or deactivating APC for the account takes a click in the Hepsia Control Panel, but if necessary, you could use the module only for specific Internet sites. This is possible due to the versatility of our cloud platform - multiple releases of PHP run on it simultaneously, so with a php.ini file placed in a website folder, you will be able to select what release will be used for this specific website and whether APC needs to be enabled or disabled. Using such a file permits you to use settings that are different from the ones for the account, so you could take advantage of APC for many scripts where the module can make a difference and not for others where you could take advantage of another type of web accelerator.
